I started to collect some information about how to get the poses of my characters right. I've got images of my work and how I get it done.
- I take a blanc sheet of paper and draw out panels that would fit the scene.I simply seperate the page into 5-6 sections where the scenes will take place.
- I already learned from tutorials how to draw poses and faces so now I'm comfortable with drawing my character free hand. I start with a simple stick pose (with a pencil) or just the head and neck if I don't need he whole body.
- Once I'm happy with the poses, I work my around my marking out the eyes, nose and mouth. The eyes are always at the centre of the head, nose quarter way down and the mouth 1/8th way down.
- When I'm finished with the poses and the structure of my character, I go over it with a fineliner. When finished, I rub out all the pencil markings from before. I now have a line drawing of the comic page.
- I scan it and import it onto my PC
- I open the page with a GimPhoto software. It's just like photoshop, however it contains a fewer options.
- I used the air brush tool to fil in the hair of my character. Aliet has grey hair so I just lightly shade it grey. The background will be either black or just filled with different shades of grey if there are visible objects.
-Once I'm happy with all the shading, I add speech bubbles and enter text that the character is speaking out.
- The final step is just saving the image as a PNG. file and uploading it onto the internet. The image is usually 2MB in size.
I use the same steps to present each of my comic pages.
